Many people saw the movie with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Yeah, it’s a romantic comedy on the big screen which they made into a musicale. Sure, it looks like a fun job, but just like any other job, being a wedding singer is a profession that must be taken seriously.

Of course, you must have a voice. If you feel you have the potential but need more vocalization training, enroll in a singing course. You will be trained to sing properly and where you should draw out your voice. Some singers are head singers which means their voice is a note lower than the diaphragm singers.

Head singers and diaphragm singers are pointed out because there are some songs that call for a higher pitch for it to sound better when performed. Of course, a wedding singer will be performing in front of people during a wedding ceremony so its best that he or she can sing the song with heart.

After talent, contacts must come into play. To become an established wedding singer, you must make yourself known to people – meaning you must let them come to you when they are in need of someone to provide the singing at their wedding.

Of course, at first, this is impossible. Every wedding singer has to begin somewhere. It helps to have a band if you are the wedding singer. There is more stability in numbers meaning if one of your bandmates has been informed about a wedding, then there will be more weddings.

The downside to having a band with you as opposed to doing the singing all alone is that you will have to split the talent fees for wedding singers with them, as opposed to bringing all the cash home for yourself.

After you have established yourself as a wedding singer and the bride and groom loved your performance, they will recommend you to their friends and colleagues who will also tie the knot.

As easy as it may sound, being a wedding singer is responsibility. We as human beings need music and at a special time such as two souls uniting, a song playing in the background will most likely be remembered by those who bore witness to such an event. They’ll look back and think, “oh yes, that was the song the wedding singer was singing when she walked down the aisle.”

See? Being a wedding singer allows you to be part of that special memory.

A singer performs best on a venue that suits him and his songs the most. If you are a performer who knows the craft well, you will find out that you have a certain singing style that is rightfully yours. And most of the time, your singing style is enhanced once it is matched with the right kind of songs.

This is precisely the reason why singers tend to concentrate on one kind of music alone. It serves them well to be identified with a certain sound and rhythm. It is like a rock band to a heavy metal song, as a balladeer to a soft and mellow music.

Given the scenario, here are the best places you can sing, depending on your type of music and singing style.

1. Music and Cocktail Bars. This mostly calls for sweet, rhythm and blues types of music. Cocktail bars are usually places with low, dim lights. It is a place conducive to romance and companionship. Singers who have the ability soothe worries away are the ones more welcome.

2. Concert Parks. Concert parks, for the longest time, were the venue of an orchestra, especially if it had a following. And usually, singers with voices suiting an opera are best to be placed behind an ensemble of talented musicians.

3. Nightspots and Music Clubs. Clubs are disco places of loud music. If you belong to a band, this is the best place for you. People here are in the groove, ready for some action. Your fast, lively music completes the night-long affair.

4. Sing along spots. This one’s the best for pop and contemporary music. Present day sounds and music are most preferred by teens and the young professionals. Hits that made it to the charts are the favorites. If you tend to sing these songs well, you now know where to go.

5. Restaurants and cafes. These are usually come as you go places, except of course, if they follow a strict ambience. Restaurants and cafes usually invite performers of different genres to perform. So it really doesn’t matter what music you go for. Sing what ever suits the mood.

These are the common singing venues you can take advantage of. And there are a whole lot of others. The possibilities are endless, because music, no matter what kind it is, is widely accepted. Just one rule to follow in the field of music – have pure, clean fun!

The art of choral singing is one that can bring joy, pleasure, and satisfaction to those who commit their time and efforts to perfecting it. Like most things that are worth doing, it requires hard work, discipline and dedication, as well as a genuine love and passion. Choral singers are indeed craftsmen in their own right, artists making beautiful music. And now you want to be one of them. Here are some tips that might help you become a successful chorus singer.

Take note of your diction.

Chorus singing requires the marriage of words and sounds to provide maximum impact, so it’s necessary to enunciate the lyrics properly while singing the proper melody. For some pointers, remember that vowels are sounded on the beat, whereas consonants slightly precede it. Also, when it comes to vowels, it is important to sing tall instead of wide.

Mind your phrasing.

Just as diction is important, of equal necessity is phrasing – that is, the combination of words when singing. The meaning of a song lies in the way the words are strung and sung together to imply every emotion imaginable and to make every story unfold.

And phrasing doesn’t just refer to the sounds you make when you sing – they also consist of the non-sounds, or the silence, that are sometimes necessary in a song.

Remember that in choral singing, each and every word, just as each and every note, is important – make sure that you are able to sing every word you need to sing, that you are able to marry every word you must marry, when phrasing.

Practice, practice, practice!

As with most things, chorus singing requires a great deal of dedication, discipline, and practice. More often than not you will not sing a piece perfectly the first time you try it – it will take many more attempts before your interpretation of a piece is at the least, acceptable. Do not be discouraged when at first, you can’t seem to “get the hang of thing” – it is true what they say that practice makes perfect. With a little more hard work and a lot of discipline, you’ll be able to get it.

Love your voice.

“Love” here is not meant in a narcissistic manner – rather, to love your voice here means to take care of it, and to make sure that it is not worn out and overly exhausted each time you sing.

Be sure to warm up your voice before every performance through vocalization, get plenty of rest and watch your health.

The human voice is by far, one of the most beautiful musical instruments ever. (If not the most beautiful). And yet, the human voice is simply the result of vibrating sound waves produced by vocal chords. What is it then that lifts the human voice above other instruments and makes it unparalleled? Is it a natural talent that is bestowed to a selected few or is it a skill that can be taught and acquired?

Most artists agree that beautiful singing is conventionally defined using three criteria:

Graceful and effortless delivery

When a performer makes a piece seem so easy, there is beauty and skill in the performance. The singer executes the piece without a single sign of strain despite the fact that beneath the surface it may have been technically and physically demanding.

Mastery of proper style

A singer must have the proper understanding of the particular musical style of the piece being interpreted. Phrasing, technique and language need to be studied and mastered.

Vocal beauty

Although highly subjective, there are certain parameters that are commonly agreed upon to recognize what is a beautiful voice. For one thing, the warmth of a voice is seen as positive across the musical board. Warmth would be referring to a pleasing sensation to the ear as opposed to scratchy and harsh, which tends to irritate.

These three taken together may seem like a hard and fast rule to judge a singer’s performance. But further analysis may show you that it is not necessarily so.

The first two factors, admittedly, are relatively easy to define, as there are concrete indicators for judging effortless delivery and mastery of musical style. Because of these indicators, it may be said that delivery and mastery can be taught and developed through training. The length of time to acquire these skills, though, may vary from one performer to another.

Vocal beauty however, proves more elusive to acquire that simply undergoing training. While singing techniques can be taught, there is no defined way of acquiring a particular warmth or timbre for the human voice. It is a natural feature innate from birth. This is why certain singers remain timeless because even if other people have sung the same song, it is never sung in the same voice.

So the answer to the question is actually both. It is simply a matter of in what proportions does delivery, mastery and vocal beauty come in. And for that, there is no hard and fast formula because singing isn’t a science, but an art.

“A cappella” is a phrase an Italian phrase which means “in the style of the chapel.” And it’s generally music made by voices only, without accompanying instruments. A cappella is a music often used in church.

Music arrangements for small “a cappella” ensembles normally consist of one singing voice for the lead melody, a rhythmic singing bass line and all remaining voices contribute to the chordal accompaniment (bass, chorus, vocal).

Several contemporary “a cappella” singing groups however, have taken on other approaches, incorporating “human beatbox” effects and polyphonic treatments. “A cappella” also describes the system of using your vocal track only from a multi-track recording system put onto “vinyl records” for DJ’s or to remix.

Can anyone do a capella? How can it be learned?

Anyone with great persistence and love of singing can do a capella. However just like most hobbies or skills, it will take a lot of practice and determination to be good at it.

Good awareness of “pitch” is significant and so is a great singing voice, that can easily blend well with others because a capella singing is very much similar to singing in a chorus except that there is only one individual singing a part, therefore it demands greater effort from every vocalist.

Many novices finds a capella more pleasurable, as less stress is involved when joining in an “a cappella chorus” compared to a group that entails one having to sing a part alone. You can also improve by taking lessons and by doing background singing with “a cappella” recordings.

Online music schools

Online music schools offer programs that include a capella singing using audio and video technologies via the internet connection, making it easy for you to study a capella singing at home.

Choosing your music school

Before you enroll yourself in an online music school, make certain that the program is fully accredited by an “accreditation agency” that is recognized or accepted by the “United States Department of Education”.

Online music school programs have expertly designed curricula by qualified instructors.

Enrolling in an online “music school program” is very easy, as most of these schools have online applications that are immediately processed. As soon as you have completed your application, the school’s admission executive will then contact you and help you complete your enrollment process.

A capella singing whether a career or a hobby can be fun as long as you are dedicated. Just keep on honing your skills and in time, you will get the hang of it.

Of course, if you’re a great singer, you have an exemplary singing voice. However, you also need other things in order to be successful in your profession. These tools might not be immediately apparent, but you still need them in order to have a successful career.

What are those tools? Humility, health and heart.

Humility
It’s highly competitive in the music industry, with many people just waiting to both take advantage of and deflate a singer’s ego. You as that singer have to be able to face legitimate criticism and the challenges that are going to come, whether it’s performing in a smoky bar gig you’d rather not do or dealing with arrogant management.

Health
As a singer, your work is both physically and emotionally demanding. Therefore, you need to be in good health. Your work schedules aren’t necessarily going to be healthy, with long hours put in often at night, and limited sleep. Still, you have to stay in shape and keep your instrument, your voice, in good condition, too.

Heart
If you’re a singer, of course, you love your work. You’re moved by the music you sing and are forever inspired by it. It’s your craft, you love it, and it helps you face all the hardships you’re going through as you pursue a singing career.

There’s also another set of tools you need to keep in mind when you pursue your craft. These tools are passion, practice, and personality.

Passion
If you want to make it in the music industry, of course you want to love what you do. However, it’s going to take more discipline than that and you’re going to need to want it badly enough to have passion even during difficult times. If this is your dream, keep in mind that you’re still going to have to put up with pressure and stress and it’s not is going to be perfect. What’s going to make you put up with this kind of hardship? Not just talent (which of course you need), but passion, too.

Practice
If you’ve got a great singing voice naturally, congratulations. However, to keep that singing voice in its best shape and make it even better, you need to practice. You may want to practice only when you want to, but in truth, that kind of skill takes dedication and hours a day, every day of the week. In short, practice really does make perfect.

Personality
In the music industry, it’s highly competitive. To get noticed in this environment, you need personality. Your personality is going to draw people to you, make them want to get to know you, and eventually, hopefully, to want to hear you sing.

If you want to further your singing career, then, give yourself a good start with these tools. Keep working toward your passion, in order to pursue success.
